Kim Poldner, PhD candidate/Eco fashion magazine editor (Netherlands)

poldnerWhat does the idea/concept of a manifesto mean to you? - Is there a specific manifesto that you align to or that has interested/influenced you?

A manifesto? I never use that word but it sounds interesting, what is it exactly? I can give you a sentence that always inspires me: ‘To solve the problems in this world we need to lift our thinking to a higher level then what it was when we created these problems’ (Albert Einstein). And furthermore, with regards to my PhD research on eco fashion, a statement that inspires it is:
‘Just like the first industrial revolution started in the fashion industry, so will the second that leads us to sustainability’.
(William McDonough and Michael Braungart, authors of ‘Cradle to Cradle’)

Everyday manifestos are also prayers and other spiritual texts I read to feed my soul!

Do you have a personal manifesto?

My personal manifesto is that I just try to be grateful for everything that comes my way, good or bad, since these are my lessons in life.
And: Vontade para viver (the great longing to live in portuguese)!!!

Do you think that manifestos still have relevance to society at large or groups of people in the 21st century?

I think they do, when I look at Nelson Mandela speeches for example or other really inspiring quotes.
